AFI people moves round-up: Week ending 21 July

The week’s top people move headlines in alternative asset management, from public sources and AFI analysis of regulatory filings. (Subscribers can get daily updates here).

Millennium hires Gertjan Vlieghe from Element

Gertjan Vlieghe, a former member of the Bank of England‘s interest rate-setting committee, has joined Millennium Management from Element Capital.

He joins as vice-president in fixed-income, report Bloomberg. He had been chief economist at Element.

Key promotions at Hamilton Lane

Private credit specialist Hamilton Lane has mixed up its senior ranks, announced CEO Mario Giannini.

Jeffrey Armbrister has been appointed to serve as CFO succeeding Atul Varma, who is leaving the firm. Andrew (Drew) Schardt will become a vice chairman of Hamilton Lane, while retaining his role leading investment strategy. This will take effect on 8 August.

Richard Hope, Hamilton Lane’s head of EMEA, will assume the additional role of co-head of investments, alongside Tom Kerr. Based in London, Hope will take on broad leadership and management responsibilities across the global investment platform.

Nayef Perry will assume sole leadership of the firm’s credit business as head of direct credit, after previously serving as co-Head alongside Schardt.

New trader at Pine River

Relative value manager Pine River Capital Management has hired Abby Mongeon as a repo trader based in New York. She will focus on fixed income funding, working with PMs across the firm’s fixed income relative value strategies.
