Blackstone’s hedge fund seeding business is becoming part of its multi-billion Absolute Return business.

Bloomberg reported that the move will help to provide the scale needed to compete with multi-strategy firms accessing the top trading talent.

Blackstone’s Strategic Alliance Fund will now run within Absolute Return and seeding deals will be sourced and executed by the main team hedge fund allocator team.

It will hugely boost the firepower SAF has at its exposure, leading to better fee deals and access to talent.

“Operating as one platform is more efficient for managers and for our clients,” David Ben-Ur, CIO of Blackstone’s Absolute Return platform, told the wire.

Blackstone was the first backer of Arrowpoint Partners, the Hong Kong-based start-up multi-strategy firm founded by Jonathan Xiong, ex-Asia co-CEO at Millennium, in 2024 and has made many other leading investments, typically in exchange for a cut of revenue.
