D. E. Shaw‘s venture arm has co-led a $30bn Series G fundraise by AI provider Anthropic. The round, led by GIC and Coatue, valued Anthropic at $380bn post-money.

Anthropic said the investment will fuel frontier research, product development and infrastructure expansions in enterprise AI and coding.

“We’re proud to work with a team that shares our culture of frontier research, long-term thinking and technical excellence, and look forward to supporting the Anthropic team as they continue to scale their impact,” said Edwin Jaeger, a managing director at D.E. Shaw.the New York firm.

Appaloosa LP, Blackstone, D1 Capital Partners, Jane Street, Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), Temasek and Whale Rock Capital were among the other significant investors.

“Whether it is entrepreneurs, startups, or the world’s largest enterprises, the message from our customers is the same: Claude is increasingly becoming critical to how businesses work,” said Krishna Rao, Anthropic’s CFO.

“This fundraising reflects the incredible demand we are seeing from these customers, and we will use this investment to continue building the enterprise-grade products and models they have come to depend on.”

Less than three years since Anthropic earned its first dollar in revenue, the firm said its run-rate revenue is $14bn, with this figure growing over 10x annually in each of those past three years.

“This growth has been driven by our position as the intelligence platform of choice for enterprises and developers. The number of customers spending over $100,000 annually on Claude (as represented by run-rate revenue) has grown 7x in the past year.”
