Hedge fund redemption requests remain below 2025 levels: SS&C

Hedge fund redemption requests remained below year-ago levels in September despite increasing from the previous month, according to the latest data from SS&C GlobeOp.

The SS&C GlobeOp Forward Redemption Indicator measured 2.02% in September, up from 1.64% in August but below the 2.21% recorded during the same period last year.

SS&C said the monthly increase was consistent with seasonal patterns, with redemption notices typically submitted 30 to 90 days before investors withdraw capital.

“Redemptions continue to trend favorably against an ongoing backdrop of economic uncertainty, global tensions, and elevated market volatility,” said Bill Stone, chairman and chief executive of SS&C Technologies.

The indicator measures forward redemption notices received from investors in hedge funds administered on the SS&C GlobeOp platform as a percentage of assets under administration at the beginning of the month.

September’s reading remains below the 12-month high of 2.43% recorded in November 2025, although it has increased from the record low of 1.26% reached in April.

Capital movement index hits 12-month high

The latest redemption data comes as SS&C’s Capital Movement Index reached 133.10 in September, its highest level over the past 12 months. The index measures monthly net subscriptions and redemptions across hedge funds administered by SS&C GlobeOp.

Hedge funds on the platform also gained 0.83% on a gross basis in the latest performance estimate, taking year-to-date gains to 8.63%. The trailing 12-month return stood at 14.90%.

SS&C said investors continue to value the diversification and risk-adjusted returns offered by hedge funds despite economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions and elevated market volatility.

SS&C GlobeOp’s administration platform represents approximately 10% of estimated global hedge fund industry assets.
