Seventy-five hedge funds have now registered offices in the DIFC as Dubai continues its rise to industry prominence, according to figures from the emirate’s financial hub.

Their ranks include 17 members of the AFI Power List, which ranks the $10bn-plus global hedge fund industry. Dubai has been ahead of Abu Dhabi in attracting hedge funds, with the large multi-manager platforms gravitating to the DIFC.

Abu Dhabi attracted Marshall Wace late last year, however, the London firm becoming the fifth Power List manager to set up there.

Verition Fund Management, the New York-based firm, was the latest to open a Dubai office midway through last year. Other new registrations by managers and financial firms in Dubai in 2024:

  • Allfunds
  • ASK Wealth Advisors
  • Bluecrest
  • Blue Owl
  • Capricorn Fund Managers
  • Dymon Asia Capital
  • Edmond de Rothschild

  • JJJ Capital

The DIFC will this year open a “Funds Centre,” which will aid investment managers looking to raise and deploy capital, manage investments, access talent and deepen their networks.
